The South Deerfield Fire Department regrets to announce the passing of retired Fire Department and Muster Team Captain Jim Walker who left us peacefully on January 15th after a softball game in his home state of Florida at the tender age of 80. Jim was the son of the Fire Chief and served from the 1950's for over 30 years, he made it a family affair as sons JP and John Michael ran for many years and through many beers. He leaves his wife Ann, former town nurse and EMT who helped countless people in each capacity over the years, he also leaves two daughters who were there for all the musters and fund raisers. Jim was there for anyone who needed assistance, storing the muster truck and hauler in his large garage, allowing the use of it when repairs were needed to either truck, basically a guy who you could always count on. His quick wit and sometimes sharp tongue will be missed. Thank you. Fred Beckta
